I have to admit that I skipped the poetry in the first half of the book as I'm just not able to appreciate Morris' poetry but I absolutely LOVED the stories. I think this may be my favourite book of Morris' so far.

The collection of short stories were mainly set in medieval times and read like fairy tales or epics, there were knights and supernatural occurrences, and love and loss. My favourite story was the dream, about two lovers separated and reuniting throughout time. The last story, the only one not set in medieval times, was fantastically jarring, some parts written so beautifully others simply over the top. The stories were nearly all tragedy. Perfect reading for winter. I'd very highly recommend this one.
