Well I had a lovely meeting with my professor today and have now much more work and focus to do for my dissertation. Before next week I have to write my introduction to Taoism with definition of what it meant as a religion, how and when it started (With the three main scholarly debates) and what it was in the Tang. I am not sure but he may also want the introduction on the Tang dynasty and Women in Taoism as well. I suppose it's probably okay as I feel like I've been taking it a bit easy lately. He also gave me really great advice on studying Classical Chinese which I need to start fitting into my schedule. I was very pleased to hear that he mostly just taught himself too as that seems to be the way I'm going to have to do it. He suggested I go to China for a year to study after I'm done with the dissertation. I just can't think how that's feasible at the moment. And I don't know how that would affect future funding. I don't know how the assistant curator fits in with the scholarly side. They seem to be two different paths, though I'm sure they go together more than any other career option I have available at the moment. I'll just have to be carefull not to get too sidetracked, if I even get it!
Bill's written up his application for the library assistant position in the Slavic Studies part of UCL. I really hope he gets it. Life would be so great if we both had jobs that we enjoyed.
I should get back to work, I have two books to write up, but no time to do so. The library is open for the next 4 hours for studying, and then hopefully tonight we'll FINALLY make it to the Vampyre Connextion.
