Yesterday I managed to edit most of chapter 4. I switched the emphasis of the chapter from comparing the hagiographies of the Tang I was studying with earlier and later works, to looking at other examples of women in Taoism during the Tang. My professor seemed to be hinting that this would be a good idea and I'm much happier with the result. I get to mention Princesses and murderous hookers so that's got to be a good thing.

In order to manage this weekend, work, slimes, and philosophy I need to have the rough draft finished today. I have 12 hours and about 4000 words to get rid of. I think this can be accomplished. Part of me is in disbelief that it will be handed in this time next week and my life as an MA student will be over. I am so happy I did the course. I wish it didn't have to end. I REALLY WANT TO DO A PHD!

I got an email back from my professor who said my editing seems to be going well! Horray. I take back the mean things I said about him earlier. It's nice to have encouragement. Will finish chapter 2 today and send it to him, so I can get his final comments Monday, and put them in tuesday and wednesday and get it printed and bound thursday! It is important to finish a day early. Especialy as Friday I'm going to the library services open day.

At the start of this week my disseration was 26,000 words. Its now less half that! 12,000 words! WooHoo! This would be perfect were SOAS a reasonable university with a reasonable word count for MA level dissertations, unfortunatly I still need to prune 1000 words (and write the conclusion). Still seems perfectly manageable for a final edit next week. The last draft chapter has been sent to my professor and the Gin has been opened!
