On Saturday Bill and I pretended to be old people and took a very nice day trip up to St. Albans to look at Roman ruins. While not the most impressive ruins it was still lots of fun. They had a beautiful park which we spent lots of time wandering through, a bit of a wall, a nice mosaic and a really great little museum about life in Roman Britain, which included a nice 30 minute lecture. We also went and looked at the theatre that had been uncovered and some more ruins. We avoided the Cathedral as there was some big Christian event with Bishop Tutu taking place but we did find a second hand book shop with a 50 percent off sale. I bought a lovely book that was a collection of essays about gay history and a book on Pre-Colombian Mesoamerican art. Now I have weekends free I must remember to try and explore out of London more often!
