I can't be arsed to do the "meme" that's floating round so just going to sum up some thoughts about the year instead.
Books read:
90, a couple more than last year, but a lot more fiction. It'd be impossible to pick favorites, World War Z, On the Road and the Unbearable Lightness of Being, stick out for fiction read by new authors. The Fox Spirit book was probably my favorite Chinese history book. Hopefully next year now I have access to SOAS library and Senate House library again I'll be able to read more history.
Accomplishments:
1, Moving house, Holloway is so much better than West Ham, it is wonderfull to be surrounded by friends and fun things to do.
2, Also 2 new jobs, I don't think I've had 2 new jobs in a year since leaving university. But hopefully I'll be staying at the new one for many years to come!
Holidays:
1, Florence, despite saying we'd take advantage of Europe being close Bill and I only made it abroad once this year. But it was lovely. Next year will involve more traveling! And this time I mean it.
2, 2 whitbys. Always fun! Met lovely new people, and even convinced my "non-goth" sister she could have a good time there!
3, Christmas. I can't remember the last time I had a proper Christmas off. I didn't work last year or the year before but as I was only semi-employed then I wasn't getting paid holiday. It did feel good to have the time off and be able to relax and have fun!
Chinese,
I feel it's getting better, though I practice writing a lot less towards the end of the year. Next year I must write more Chinese diary. (Which means I need to get the IME on both our computers working). I'm not happy with the way my classes have been for grade 5. I feel I need to spend time reviewing grammer, and listening to my language tapes until I can understand everything. Hopefully next year I'll be more disciplined with both putonghua and Classical.
Next year,
Only two things I shall try and do differently next year. I mean to budget better so we can travel more and try and get back in the habit of exercising/dieting despite being happy.
