Almost a year ago at the Seattle book fair, I found a complete set of a martial arts novel, all 6 volumes for 50 cents each. I couldn't read it but figured one day I'd really want to. Today I realised now I have my books again I should figure out what it is. Which has made for a fun hour hunting down wuxia novels on the web. Eventually I found out it was:
劍網塵絲
jian4 sword 剑
wang 3 network 网
chen 2 dust/dirt/earth 尘
si1 silk/thread/trace 丝
by
梁羽生
liang2
yu3 羽(feather)
sheng1 生 (born)
The Chronicles of the Sword Union, (was the only English translated title I could find) by Liang Yu Sheng, who also wrote novel the Bride with White Hair is based on and the Seven Swordsmen, which is currently a movie directed by Tsui Hark.
The novels are from Taiwan, which means I have to practice my traditional characters a bit. But I did find an simplified character version online if I need to cheat and look things up.(horray)Though I think it's still a bit more advanced than I can manage at the moment, maybe by the end of the year....
