Well I finished revising for my exam next week. I think it's kinda cute that our teacher refers to our final exam as a "quiz". But I made all my revision notes and in the process seemed to have learned most of them. I meeting a classmate before class on Thursday to help her study. She's going to help me with Chinese in exchange, it seems like a very good trade. I just wish class were not ending next week. Still I guess it's good as it'll give me more time to learn my Chinese, and I have a huge list of books to read while I'm waiting to go back to school next fall.

I just bought two books on amazon, one is almost a 1000 pages all translated women's writings from the Imperial period of Chinese history. I saw it at the UW bookstore and had to have it. Amazon gave me a gift certificate for getting a credit card and it seemed to be ideal. I also bought a book for 4 dollars that looked very neat, it was reconstructing Liao and Song tombs, it's short but looks very cool.

On an auspicious note I was reading about the superstitions of scholars in my book The Thorny Gates of Learning that I'm having to read for class. I'd already noted that the first review was by Ebrey, my current proffesor, so no big surprise she had us read it. But then I noted that the secound review was by Timothy Barrett, the professor I'm hoping to study with at Soas. Now if I were superstitious I would say this was a very good sign!
