Today's most interesting book has been Anyang and Sanxingdu : unveiling the mysteries of ancient Chinese civilizations. The book was a fairly typical look at the archeological excavations but it had something in it I'd never seen before. What was so interesting was that they had ceramics with a quite simplified Taotie design. (It had the same horns, diamond and eye shape as my tatoo!) I was really excited as I'd never seen this design on ceramics before only on bronzes. Apparently the ceramics were burial good for poorer people who couldn't affoard the bronze vessals.

We also had someone in asking about "Tang horsemen" which led me to find the great picture of women playing Polo in the Tang,




And a Tang Beauty.




It is any wonder I love that dynasty so much?
