Othello

HUGE thank yous to webcowgirl who took me to see Othello last night with EWAN MCGREGOR! We had front row seats so I was less than 5 feet away from one of the few male celebreties I seriously lust after! SIGH! Needless to say I loved the play! During the 2nd act I even got so caught up in the plot that I managed to look at the other actors on stage!

I'd not seen Othello before but I did enjoy it. I liked Iago's villany. Let down by having a wife that was too good! If he'd been married to Lady Macbeth instead they could have ruled the world! (oh well!). It did seem all a bit like tragedy without point, as Othello should have taken his wife's word over his servants, and Desdemona should have admitted she'd lost her stupid hanky. The people I was with didn't think much of her character, I think the religious and the obsessive love might be a bit offputting. But I think she's far superior to Julliet. In defiance of her father, she married a black man and admitted it at risk of loosing his approval. That's got to take a certain ammount of balls!
