(This month's
bibliogoth book) Lovely classic sci-fi. It reads like film noir with a distopian future and of course robots! I love the setting so much. It's like a proto blade runner, cyberpunk world with teaming cities overcrowded and miserable. There's a lot of really interesting social commentary as well, particularly in regards to how people treat each other. While Daneel didn't have as much characterisation as in later books he's still great fun. Elijah was a good classic cop, not too bright, but dedicated. (I had trouble not picturing him as Barnaby from Midsommer!)
Re-reading it I found I enjoyed it just as much as the first time around. I hadn't planned on reading the sequel, but now because I enjoyed the charcters so much I don't want to stop...
