<Well despite the fact that today we moved all of Bill's stuff out of his storage locker I still managed to read the new Harry Potter. I did read 131 pages before bed last night, having picked it up at the Barnes and Noble midnight release. I won't pretend to give a proper analysis of the book or anything. I did enjoy it a lot. I think more than year 5. Though I think it might be a little tedious for slower reading as it seemed that apart from the occasional visits to Dumbledore and a lot of crushes not much seemed to be happening for the first 400 pages or so. Though I did find the reference to an anal cavaity search in the first 100 pages rather amusing, as was the orgy reference later ah Harry Potter, not your avarage children's book. Though alas unlike my remebernces of the lower 6th there was a lot less underage drunkeness.

So far my favorite book was the fourth one. I have to say the Harry Potter books remind me so much of my high school, not the magic (of course) but the revision timetables, and prefects, and house points and well everything else. Maybe it just makes me feel a bit homesick. The fourth year I think was one of my favorite years in school and the 4th book I enjoyed so much, the ending seemed so sudden and dark and dramatic and then I felt a bit let down reading 5 as everything was still "well now wait and see". Though everyone seemed more angry, which seems to have passed in book 6 everyone seems much happier and more concerned about qwiditch and crushes than "the dark lords return". But I guess with only one book left then 7 will have to be dramatic.

Still I did enjoy it, though I was a bit confused by the ending, having had Snape turn out not to be bad so many times in the past I wasn't quite ready to believe that he really had this time. Which she was probably trying to do but some of the drama was lost a bit. I didn't cry over Dumbledore's death, though I thought that the French girl still wanting to marry Bill was very touching. And I wish there had been more of Tonks, but still I liked it and will look forward to reading the next one whenever it comes out.

Now back to China...
